Why/how I joined the CC

Someone asked the question why/how you joined the CC, so, I posted this in that section, but I thought that it deserved wider circulation......... so here it is:

How/Why did you join?

Because it was there!

Seriously though. we were very lucky. My parents had been members since 1964 and had always enjoyed the Magazine 'En Route' and the Sites . So as my Brother, then my Sister and then me bought caravans, my Dad bought us our CC Membership. and for many many years he renewed it for each of us as a Christmas present. S o each year he paid for four members.

Thanks Dad, sadly no longer with us, but still struggling with the Awning somewhere and taking it down a day early if it is dry !!

    How lovely for you that you grew up caravanning!  When I was little I really envied people with caravans.  Even then it seemed to me to be nothing short of paradise.  I would hate to give up my van now, and I hope I've passed on a love of camping to my two
    kids.
