Alloy wheels - flash but are they more trouble than they are worth?

I upgraded to a van with alloy wheels - and they do look really flash compared with wheel trims on steel wheels .

First snag- had to replace my SAS wheel clamp with a new version which is suitable for alloy or steel wheels- unlike my old one which was only any good for steel wheels.

Second snag- have to be extremely careful when fitting the new wheel clamp to avoid scratching the shiny surface of the alloy wheel!

Third snag- my under caravan spare wheel cage only takes steel wheels, so if I had to change the wheel, the removed alloy wheel will not fit inside the cage.

Fourth snag- you can't fit those plastic wheel nut movement prevention thingies on the alloy wheels.

Wish you could get steel wheels with metal hubcaps for cars and for caravans, like in the good old days, but that is another story!

Didn't know there was an alloy wheels version but too late now as wheels scratched.

I really like my alloy wheels but don't use a wheel lock just the Alko hitch lock

I was told by my insurers I needed to use a wheel lock as well, as some thieves even remove the hitch from the towing frame and still manage to steal your van!
