Bailey build differences

Just to let members know of potential differences in Bailey caravans.

Late 2011 I bought a 2012 Bailey Unicorn Madrid being aware of the highly reported loss of wheels also the risk of front end stone damage due to the all aluminium front panelling.

Last week we travelled to Sheepcote Valley where on arrival I noted a small dent in the front gas bottle locker door,aluminium.

On our return home and as I have a tow protector previously used on another van but not for towing generally used during storage to protect the GRP front from UV damage I thought I would see if it would fit this van.

Here the problems started as to my surprise bailey have not fitted a offside awning rail on our van,essential for the cover securing,yet I note it is on another 2012 Unicorn in our storage area.

On contacting bailey they said yes we do this sometimes and offered no further help.

As I write I'm waiting for a reply from bailey the MD to see if they can do anything.

My other advice is be aware that bailey now fit internally mounted water pumps which are very noisy,on talking to another owner he described his like a machine gun going off.I'm considering converting mine to the old submersible pump,slight loss in pressure but a lot quieter.

    Also next time you check with Bailey ask them the cost of services particularly in years 2 & 3 all to do with their alutech technology,, I beleive they work out very expensive.

    Reading this article by Gilera reminded me of when I contacted Bailey technical services with a couple of minor problems with my Bailey motorhome. The first was not of their making and was quickly resolved. The second related to the hose supplied for filling
    the on board water tank which in my case leaked around the connector soaking a carpet as the tap was located just inside the house. The disinterested advisor said that he had never heard of this problem before and dismissed it. No further conversation! This
    sort of situation makes you think twice about the wisdom of buying one of their products. What if the problem had been more serious?

    During the last week I have met with another disgruntled Bailey motorhome owner who has had a number of problems. It seems we are not alone

    It seems all manufacturers have their problems but they remain a long way short of car companies. What we need is  a caravan survey like the JD Power survey for cars - that would tell us a great deal about reliability. I sometimes feel the Club is working
    with or too close to the manufacturers rather than helping its membership really spill the beans on reliability. A good honest reporting process would influence buyers and so force up quality.

    Weve a bailey unicorn barcelona 2011, my hubby hates it,  very poor build quality, 1 year on its had 5 replacement window blinds,bathroom tap been replaced due to him banging his head whilst washing,new door and door frame as it was twisted and wouldnt lock
    correctly,exterior back panel seal keeps popping off,and finally after having gone to the expense of purchasing a specialised front cover for travelling bearing in mind the barcelona does not have an awning rail on both sides so suction pads are used  well
    yes you can guess the suction pad at the top came off, and with the wind was hitting the side of van!  Yes its dented the side of the van by the window approxiametely 12 inches long!!  Any ideas as to cost of repare?
