There couldn’t have been a better site for me to spend my birthday on than Looe CC site. Just a stones throw away from the nearby fishing town of Looe, the site is perfect for kids of all ages. It has a range of activities to offer on site - like an open-air swimming pool, mini crazy-golf course, tennis court, large playground and football pitch - as well as the basics, such as two large toilet blocks and a variety of pitches. The wardens were incredibly friendly and were willing to offer any knowledge of the local area.

If you did wish to leave the site on a day trip out, then there are a few attractions nearby that we would recommend trying:

Crabbing

Crabbing is a long and time-consuming activity that requires great patience but it is rewarding when you haul up a net with crabs in, munching on the bait. The Cornish coast is perfect for crabbing and there are two nearby towns to try it at - Looe and Polperro. Looe is extremely close to the site and boasts a range of restaurants and shops, as well as a sheltered harbour to crab in. Polperro is a little further and cars aren’t allowed in the town, but it is, once again, good for crabbing in and is worth visiting anyway.

REMEMBER: Don’t overcrowd your bucket with crabs if you have that much luck!

Adrenaline Quarry

WARNING: NOT for the faint hearted! Adrenaline Quarry is barely 15 minutes from the site and is full of outdoorsy activities to try. Whether it’s the zip-wire, coasteering or Giant Swing that catches your eye, it is great for families.

Kart World

Ever tried go-karting? Here’s your chance! With a large circuit and petrol-powered karts, Kart World is opposite the Quarry. It has cars for every age and requires no booking what-so-ever. You can choose a 10, 20 or 30 minute session and can collect your lap times afterwards for those with a competitive streak!

Cornwall Football Golf

Well, this stops those family arguments about which sport to try - do both! Football Golf is a blend of Golf and Football, where you have to kick footballs, instead of put golf-balls, around the courses. Cornwall Football Golf have the first Football Golf courses in the UK - Hillside and Parkland. It is great fun trying it and can be done in all weather, as long as you don your raincoat!
