Blowing fuses with a Thetford Oven

Has anyone had problems with their Thetford Oven?  We took delivery of a brand new Swift Conqueror at the end of November.   After using the oven and grill for about 30 minutes, the piezo stopped working  and the cooker knobs were so hot I burned my fingers.
On returning the caravan back to the Dealers for investigation they discovered that Thetford had assembled the oven with the wire which switches on the cooling fan trapped down to a bare wire under a burner.   Naturally when the fan cut in, the wire arced
and thankfully blew a fuse to the piezo sparker otherwise with the gas burner on, we could have had an explosion!

Hi, just read your post. I know it's a long time ago but I think we have the same problem on our brand new caravan.  How was yours repaired out of interest.

Your easiest solution is contact the seller and get them to fix under warranty. Never seen post from the original member before now. Might not be club members or enter the forum anymore. 8 years is a long time.

Hi we had a new Coachman caravan last year and we have the same issue now, the fuse has blown to the igniter and while away last week we noticed the gas control knobs  to be dangerously hot after using the grill and oven, it has caused damage to the chrome coating on them. The caravan is back to the dealer tomorrow to investigate the issue.

Is there no pull out heat shield in place above your oven door?

There is on our Coachman TW. It is 5 years old and I can't imagine any reason apart from cost why Coachman would get rid of it but I haven't seen any new ones so can only comment on my own.

I think there has been on every caravan/MH we've owned. Well, apart from the ones that didn’t have ovens!
