Will solar replace EHU on CL's
In the past a CL was seen as a cheap option. No EHU, no facilities, and access to some great areas that you possibly couldn't get to if you only used larger sites.
As caravans get more and more thirsty for power, the demand for EHU on a CL had risen, and most CL's these days offer EHU, and of course the price has to go up to cover the installation and use of this facility.
I was wondering as the price of solar panels keeps dropping, will CL users invest in a panel and start hunting for the cheaper non EHU sites again? Which could leave CL's with a lot of facilities struggling to get a return on their investment.
Would it be an idea for a CL owner to invest in a solar hook up, SHU, system where a customer could plug there caravan in to a solar panel during their stay, whether it be permanently mounted near the pitch, or borrowed a portable unit for the duration of
their trip?
I thought it would be a chaper investment for a CL to install SHU, and then there would be no ongoing usage fees, and with energy companies relentless with price increases you would be shielded from having to increase your nightly fees, and protect your
margin.
Would love to know what other people think.
Do CL owners think its a good idea?
Would CL users be happy witheth battery always charged, but no mains power?
