Winter caravanning

I know its a long time in the future, but I was thinking of travelling to either Austria or Switzerland for Christmas next year (told you its way into the future).  If its wintry conditions, like snow and ice, is it easy to 1) drive in said countries (do
you need snow chains) and 2) how about pitching?
