Ireland.....shamble sites...CC opportunity?
Just finishing a 4 week tour of Ireland in our motorhome (not Northern Ireland) and have to say we haven't stayed on a single site that comes anywhere close to the standard of the CC sites In the UK. Over the 30 days, we've probably stayed on 25 different
sites. Charges have been between €25 and €30 for the Motorhome and 2 adults. Showers are charged extra at €1 or €2 per person!! Facilities are very poor generally. It's like going back 20 years and it amazes me that these sites can charge so much for the
service they provide. I have to conclude it's down to a lack of competition. The country is amazing; the people are so warm and friendly...and the Guinness is exceptional!! There is, in my humble opinion, a significant opportunity for the Caravan Club to
establish some proper sites in key locations in Ireland and deliver the level of service that this country so badly needs if it is to make the most of its tourism potential. Does anyone agree?
