First time trip to France arriving in Cherbourg

We (2 adults and 1 x 14 year old) are planning our very first 2 week trip to France in our caravan.  We've been looking at sites on the CC website and just cannot make up our minds.  Can anyone give some recommedations for an arrival in Cherbourg off the ferry and not driving too far?  Probably within 80 miles.  Friendly sites with a pool would be top of the list.  Somewhere far enough away from the Port that there wouldn't be loads of overnighters but not too far to drive to get to.
