Alderstead Heath complaint

Here is a email I sent regarding restrictive timings on the security gates at Alderstead Heath CC site.

" I have booked a weeks stay at Alderstead Heath so that we can visit relatives, some that live in Essex and some friends who are meeting us here.  When booking in I was advised that the security gate would lock at eleven o/c and not open again until seven
the following morning.

I appreciate that security is provided by this but I am surprised that the security cards do not work at any time.  For me to visit my relatives in Essex I would not be returning to the site until one possibly two o/clock in the morning and would then
have to park outside and make my disabled wife walk to the caravan in this bitterly cold weather.  The only other option is to curtail my visit and leave early which negates the whole reason for bringing the caravan and travelling to this site.

Putting this lock out in place is treating us like children that cannot be trusted: I for one do not appreciate being treated this way.  The rather pathetic reason given is completely nonsensical, caravans leaving in the middle of the night...seriously.

The whole point of security cards is exactly that - security - if they do not work then what is the point of having them?  Just put up gates and lock them at night and open them in the morning and save yourselves hundred and hundreds of pounds".

Has anyone been to a site that does this and do you think it is a fair use of site controlling your movements?

I would like to know your views on this.
