First timers in France

HI All

We are newbies and have booked our first trip to France and are booked to sail to Cherbourg in early Sept arriving early pm. We are intending on going down to Benodet. A bit nervous about the driving and looking for advice on a stopover on the way to Benodet.
We were looking at Camping Haliotis in Portorson and not having driven on French roads before wondered if this is an sensible distance for a 2 night stop over?
