Long term touring.

Hi everyone. First time discussion for me although in the Club for about 10 years. Here's the thing: I am retired and my husband wants to retire in about two years. We then want to take our "gap year"! to tour around Europe. We currently own a 2 berth 'van
and new tow car. Does anyone have experience of long term touring with a car and caravan, as opposed to a motorhome? Would love to hear from you.
