Problems with water pump

i bought a 2012 Lunar Quasar a few months ago and the first time I used it I thought the pump was a bit temperamental.  Ive always had to go and jiggle with the blue cable of the submersible pump to get it to work.  But once ive jiggled with it it's been
ok for the rest of the stay.

its getting worse and now it won't pump unless I'm outside slightly pressing down on the blue cable thing between the aquaroll and the caravan.  It's almost like the connection isn't lined up properly.

is it likely to be a fault with the pump or with the connection in the caravan side?  Anyway of finding out where the problem is apart from buying a new pump and seeing if that's better?
