Keeping a mtorhome in France

As we only use our Motorhome in southern France and Spain we are thinking it may make sense to keep it in France or Spain if we can find a storage place near an airport and then fly out. Just wondered if anyone else does this and what are the issues to overcome
(insurance MOT or register abroad etc)
