Selling a caravan on the internet -possible scams?

I am trying to sell my caravan on an internet site and having read about lots of possible scams, am a bit nervous of being tricked by an unscrupulous 'buyer'. Is it safe to divulge the VIN number and CRIS registration number of my van in reply to an on-line request?
