Germany for September Beer festival - any advice?

We are looking at going to germany (Stutgart?) in September for a visit to the beer festival for a couple of days in our motorhome (2-3 week trip with a couple of days at the festival).

We have been to france a couple of times with great success but never taken it to Germany. What general advice can anyone offer regarding touring Germany and in particular during the beer festival? Are there any sites with good access to the festival etc?
