Volunteering

I've just noticed on "Your Stories" someone saying they've volunteered on a CC site this year. It says the CC will pay your mileage and give you a free night's stay for every 4 hours worked. This is very tempting! Can anyone tell me if this is so and if
it is does it apply to all sites? Also how would I go about applying?
