"Reserving" pitches together

Has anyone else noticed an increasing tendency for caravanners to "reserve" pitches for friends by arriving early and the placing tables, water bottles or even parking cars on adjacent pitches. We have often watched this being done particularly on Friday
afternoons. Then other new arrivals tour round the site, increasingly frustrated,  looking at the dwindling number of pitches, believing these "reserved" pitches have been taken. Surely one of the joys of the caravan club system is the ability to choose your
own pitch and not have it allocated in advance. If groups of friends wnt to have adjacent pitches, which is fair enough, maybe they should book on commercial sites which allocate pitches i advance?
