Bought an i40 tourer 137ps to tow my Bailey olympus 2 540/5. After the advised run in period we have used it to tow on three occasions, on each occasion we have smelled burning from the clutch at one point or another.
The first time we had just driven up a long incline in 3rd gear. We stopped at the top to admire the view and were greeted by a strong burning clutch smell. The other occasions have all been when starting on gentle slopes (not hills). I have been trying
to keep the revs to a minimum and not ride the clutch, but it does not seem to help.
The car with driver, passengers and luggage weighs about 1862kg (maximum gross weight 2120kg) and the olympus is only carrying 50kgs, putting that around 1330kgs (max weight 1450kg) so we are not really pushing the limits.
I am thinking about going back to have a chat with the dealer, but would appreciate any advice or opinions before I go.
Thanks.
