We're having a winter break in southern Spain Happy

We're catching the 08:45 ferry to Santander on the 14th Jan, so we'll to travel down the day before and need a stopover.  The CC sites are closed so does anyone have a suggestion please?

Is it permissible to stay on the ferry port itself for 12 hours?

cheers

Kev

There is the free public car park just to the north of Portchester Castle. Although the publc toilets get closed around dusk, there is a tap on the outside wall. Shouldn't be crowded on a Friday evening. The bottom end of Castle Street can be a bit of a
slalom so it may depend on the size of your rig. Five and a half miles - fifteen minutes to the ferry.

Have you asked the port if you can stay for 12 hours? They'll be the people with the answer.

The reply from EJB986 is telling you that your title, typed in capital letters, is considered by some forum members to be 'shouting'.  Some people just don't notice these things! As you can't edit a title once it's typed and posted, there's nothing anyone who didn't know that, can do about it, once it's posted.

Good luck in finding somewhere and I'm sorry I can't suggest anywhere.

Dare I suggest that capitals on virtually all forums are considered as shouting and not just by 'some members'!

However, I should have explained a little more sympathetically particularly if the OP is a new poster and not used to forum etiquette..... for that I do apologise.

Title amended to remove upper case text.

There are a couple of good CLs near Fareham, Carefree Nurseries and Arden. Both have hardstanding pitches and electrics. I have not checked but they maybe open all year.

Is there not a car park (pay) as you enter the docks where you can stay overnight as well as in the check in lanes (free)? See the Britanny Ferries web page for Portsmouth docks.

We've stayed at Carefree Nurseries when travelling in winter and wanting to catch a ferry. They're open all year. Good CL and you should have no trouble travelling to the ferry. About 10-15 minutes maximum.

    Hi

We are catching the morning ferry from Portsmouth on 5th January heading back too Spain and we usually stop overnight in the docks. We stop off at Port Solent (shopping centre) for a meal around tea time then arrive around 9pm and you will find a queue for
the morning ferry already underway, toilets are open all night with bar till about 11pm and then early morning coffee in cafe. On their web-site it says you can stay overnight after the last ferry as gone but no one takes ablind bit of notice and have never
    been stopped. Enjoy Spain.

Thanks for the responses.  As we'll be travelling from Stoke in the Friday rush I wasn't expecting to get to Portsmouth until 9ish so I'll go straight to the port and join the queue.

I had seen the port's website which suggested parking on a yellow line after 10PM, but I didn't fancy that.
