First trip and going to Malaga Spain!

Can anyone advise me on the the most economical and best route to Malaga from UK (Suffolk). I am hoping to travel around the 16th November (only going for around 10days), Not sure about any inclement weather periods if travelling overland from Calais or
if best to take ferry crossing from portsmouth. I also have a dog (have organised passport)
