Umwelt Plakette (Enviromental sticker for Germany)

The cheapest way that I have found of getting an Umwelt Plakette for travel through Germany is from the Berlin Office at:

The cost is just €6 and you can pay by credit card. Mine came within 7 days of ordering it.




The process is easy and the above website is in English.

By comparison with some commercial services which offer to get one of these plackets for you, this is a bargain (they last for the life of the vehicle and do not need to be renewed).

Marginally cheaper is Stadt Koln, website gives details of obtaining a plakette by posting a 5 Euro note with application and copy of V5. Used this method for three cars now most recent March 2016, plakette back in about ten days.

I have always used the Berlin office. The fact that you can pay by credit card and upload a copy of the V5 makes it marginally easier to me.

Berlin gets my vote too. Very quick indeed and no hassle to issue a second one for same vehicle when windscreen replaced due to being broken by a stone thrown up by an overtaking Stagecoach bus. I previously had to get the V5 scan compressed (by an IT friend
with winzip) but last time it was not neccessary

Or just take your V5 and 5 euros to any car dealer as you arrive in Germany!
