First adventure was a success
I have just returned from our first tour of Europe in our own caravan - when planning I had lots of help from users of this forum who said ( being polite perhaps) that they wanted to hear how I got on .
So first night we stayed in a CL ( Newsole Cottage) only a few minutes from Dover . It was very basic and due to travel problems ( a hold up on M4 , M25 and M20) we didn't arrive till about 11 pm ! Thank God we had a torch and bottled water . We left there
3 am to get the 4.20 ferry which actually wasn't as bad as it sounds . We had great fun people watching and congratulating ourselves that our children were never as vile as the Dudley Dursley lookalikes on board .
The drive to our first site Burg Lahneck near Koblenz Germany was fine and we arrived about 3 ( the reception was closed 12 to 3 anyway) . What a beautiful little site with fantastic views over the valley with the Rhine running through it . They were very
strict about positioning but site and facilities were great . Needed a hand to turn the caravan around 180 degrees though when it was time to leave
Next Site Gitzenweiler Hof near Lindau Germany was awful , like a refugee camp . No space at all , caravans and tents crammed in , toilets miles away , no lighting and most people used buckets for their waste water ! Noisy , rubbish pitch etc etc . I have
complained to C&CC who we booked through . Lovely area though and we had great days out to Lindau , the alps and Leichenstein via Austria .
Then Forge de Sante Marie in Champage for a couple of nights which was a pretty little quiet site ( but it rained)
Finally Blarmeersen near Gent in Belgium , plain practical site but very close to the city of Gent which was wonderful .
So we had a fab time and really didn't want to come home . Sorry for rabbiting on
