Travelling to Spain via N20

We usually travel to Spain via the A75 but are thinking of trying a new route.  We have been looking at travelling via Chateauroux, Toulouse and Foix.  On looking at the map though the N20 looks a bit daunting through the Pyrenees.  I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has any experience of travelling this road.
