French dockers on strike
Anyone travelling from Portsmouth this week with Brittany Ferries needs to be up to speed with the situation at the French ports.
There are no services in or out of Caen because of a dockers strike. Brittany Ferries are running one of their Portsmouth to Caen ferries to Cherbourg instead, but the strike may soon spread there If the dockers there join in.
The other Caen ferry was blockaded in the port at Ouistreham for the last few days but was "rescued" by managers + a group of Breton farmers who came and cut the hawsers in the middle of last night, forcibly moved the blockage on the ramp, and sailed the ship with a skeleton crew and a security team on board to the company's home port of Roscoff. Sailings to and from there to Plymouth are as normal.
