Truma Ultraflow
Is it me who's hamfisted, or is the Truma Ultraflow system, well, a bit sh....?
I've come from having a motorhome, where the pump was onboard, either submersible in the tank or an inline diaphragm one. So plugging a pump into the side of the van to draw from an aquaroll was a new thing for me, when I switched to a caravan at the beginning
of last year. Fast forward to the end of the year, and the Ultraflow pistol was lashed together with gaffer tape from exploding more than once while connecting it.
So I thought "new year, new start" and splashed out on a new pistol & pump. First time I've used it, and the van was parked on slope so the top of aquaroll ended up being level with the inlet valve, and once again I can feel the pistol straining to bust
the frankly puny plastic lugs that hold it together. The setup of having an inlet water pipe and 12V pump leads within a fairly meaty surrounding shroud seems designed to overwhelm the mechanism for holding the pistol together: seems to be an inbuilt failure
mechanism (for what it's worth, I managed to grip the whole thing to stop it bursting open on this occasion).
Am I the only person who struggles with this....they've even designed the pistol in such a way as to stop you putting a jubilee clip around the whole thing to hold it together.
