Adding other's Post to your Post

Why do members keep adding other's posts to theirs?  I find that long green line really annoying.  If a member is interested in the thread then they don't had to be reminded what others have said. 

I know this will now become a challenge to some wag to see if they can get a green line to keep going to three or four pages.
