Generators – just an observation.
I have nothing against generators on a peaceful, quite CL with no EHU. My observation is; why do the users always place the generator well away from their own caravan?
I thought the best place for a generator would be very close to their caravan, so that the caravan side can distort the sound waves and muffle the sound. But then that’s no good, because it is on from 9 in the morning to 10.45 at night, with a couple of
stops to refuel, it must be annoying and noisy for the user, they may not be able to hear their TV, so the best place to put it is 15 metres away from their own caravan, in the open for all others to hear the sound.
A couple of nights earlier a motorhomer stopped for an overnighter, at 9.30pm he came across and asked if we would mind if he started his generator because the leisure battery was flat. We did not mind, in fact I offered him my spare 110amp battery, he placed
the generator on the other side of the motorhome close up and we could hardly hear it 10 meters away, so it does work.
