Lifespan

I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before, but I can't find the answer.

I've just bought a length of high pressure (orange) tubing for my BBQ, there is a date on it, Sept 2013. 

Question is, is the date the manufacturing date, or the don't use after date?

If it is the manufacturing date, what would be its rough lifespan.
