Driving from Calais to Estepona Spain December

Hello All,

Looking to drive down from Calais to Estepona Spain this coming Dec, will not be towing just using the car, Can anyone  give advice on which roads would be best that time of year as don't want to get cought out by snow if pos. Any info on good safe hotels
which allow pets on the way would also be great
