Using municipal sites in high season

Hi all. We're touring through France this year, not our first time. We have booked all of our stays but are struggling to find two sites both for an overnight stay. I have used municpal sites with no problems before, but this was before we had to go in school
holidays! How difficult/easy is it likely to be to get two pitches (travelling with friends) on a municipal site, one at the end of July, one at the beginning of August?
