Eurotunnel stop - this side or French side?!

Hi all. Busy planning next year's trip to France. Will be going through the tunnel. In previous years we have stopped overnight at Clackett Lane Services on the way down however this time we want to get closer to the tunnel so we're over and away early in
the morning. I've read various reports about whether or not you can pull into the terminal and stop for the night, whether we should book a site (although we'd be arriving very late and leaving early) or whether we should catch a late train and stop overnight
in Cite de Europe (think that's right), although i think the kids would be miffed if they slept through the crossing!

Any thoughts on which option would be best?
