Tourist Tax
OK - Time for a rant. What are these all about? (Tourist Taxes not rants). Here I am coming into your area, paying to stay on a campsite so already boosting your economy, spending my hard earned cash in cafes, shops, restaurants, museums, markets etc. and
you're charging me for the privelge of being there! Do Tourist Office people stand at railway stations demanding to see passports so they can charge any tourists a tax for visiting their town? Are they at bus stations doing the same? So why are you charging
me for boosting your economy? I've just spent 3 weeks at a campsite in Provence and been charged 22 euros for the privelge of being a tourist. I spent close to 400 euros on site fees and a further 400-500 euros easily in local places. Do shops ask you for
a fee to enter their premises? "Thank you sir, that'll be £0.50 for entry and £50 for the groceries"
Thanks for listening. Rant over.
