Disconnecting & removing the gas tank over

Hi everyone, this will be our 1st winter storage since collecting our caravan on 02/06/15 and have a question regarding our propane gas tank.

We have looked through our handbook where it make a suggestion helpful hints to keep your caravan damp free but nothing regarding what to do with your gas tank if it is okay to leave it on the caravan or take it home an put it in your garage to keep it from
possible freezing when the temperture drops

Is it okay to leave it in the caravan and would the gas freeze(like water does) when it is really cold?
