Three months on, and what have we discovered?
We have had our Motorhome a good three months now, and in that time have managed four trips away, and a few days out. We are loving it, mainly due to our circumstances and the ease in which we can now set off at the drop of a latch!
There are a few differences to caravanning. The journey now has more interest, it is no longer all about the ultimate getting to the site chosen. We can plan a route, take in a couple of visits say to houses or towns on the way, and our chosen MH is easy
to park up in such locations and we are not reliant upon public transport or our own pedal power.
We spend much less time on sites now, as we tend to arrive after 6pm, and generally are up and off out by 10.30am. This has made us focus a bit more on the pitch cost, and Club Sites unless on the budget no facility sites are not cost effective.
We have learned to appreciate that HS is good in the Winter, wouldn't like to get MH stuck! But a nice grass pitch will be lovely in the Summer if dry!
We have always been light packers, but getting well organised and packing only essentials is the best way forward, even down to planning meals. We don't take all the stuff we used to carry in caravan!
Being able to get out all day, using MH to cook in when out has been fantastic, we can park up almost anywhere and sit and rest comfortably after dog walking, watching sunsets, then having a nice cosy meal before heading back to base.
Setting up on site is so easy, particularly as we travel with some water on board and all other tanks empty. Don't seem as many daily chores on site!
Do we miss caravan? Yes, a bit, but only the slight more space, we certainly don't miss the towing and wondering if we can visit here or there when towing.
