Spare carrier query.

Hi!  A propos the discussion on the uselessness of the Al-Ko spare carrier I was checking mine out yesterday and reminded myself that the thing only pulls out far enough to sit under the chassis, making raising the chassis essential if you want to remove
the spare!

Should it pull out further as when I met resistance I stopped pulling.  Should I have given an extra tug?

On a previous van that I had I manufactured my own carrier (from a children's swimming pool frame!) which pulled clear of the chassis. Wish I'd kept it!!!
