En Route for Croatia
Tuesday 20th May. 3:15 pm.
An uneventful journey so far. We have had glorious sunshine all the way, which is lovely, but AC means using more fuel! Today (Tuesday) we have driven from Ulm in Germany to Ljubljana in Slovenia, by way of Austria. The scenery is spectacular and makes 300 + miles fly by! In Ulm, we stayed at the campsite at Legoland, but didn't visit the park. However, in amongst the hotels and chalets on the site are dozens of Lego figures, which is lovely. At the time of writing this, we are waiting to go through the Karawankentunnel, which is 7864 metres long! Traffic goes one way at a time, and just as we got here, the lights turned red, so a 20-30 minute wait! We will be in Slovenia for two nights, so that we can explore Ljubjana tomorrow, then all being well we'll finally put our legs down for a whole week, in Rijeka, Croatia. It will be good to do a bit of laundry! As soon as I have WiFi i can send this, so if it's another day or two, there may be updates. Watch this space!
For us, Ljubjana promised more than it delivered - one day was enough, and our Dutch neighbours agreed. So tomorrow we will move on.
Update. We are now in Croatia, and it's such a relief to put the legs down and the awning up, knowing that we will stay put for a week at least. Lovely, too, to have WiFi, so the joy of listening to Radio 4! Wonderful afternoon on the beach, and into the sea I went. Three times! It took my breath away, but it really was lovely.
