Very Very Poor Quality. Elddis from Glossop
I would like to share my dissatisfaction with the purchase of my new Elddis Chatsworth (Avante) 566 from Glossop Caravans. I have had so many issues with the van. It is such poor quality! I can't remember the amount of fixings that were missing that I have had to go round and replace. The alarm was not even connected properly, the heater switch was broken, there had been an undisclosed exterior repair job that was not polished out properly, the microwave display had broken, both hiki roof light dampers were broken, cupboard doors have delaminated, the mains transformer had blown, the centre console had broken, the worktops has a manufacturing yellow stain on them that I can't get out ... and the best bit is that I have just had my first year service to find that I have significant damp in two areas of the caravan. One area with a reading of 30 and another at with a reading of 18.
OH MY LORD!!
All but the damp I have sorted with a few trips to a more local dealer. That has been an issue in itself, trying to get a so-call "authorised" dealer to carry out work on warranty when the purchase was not from them.
I have now got to sort out the damp on warranty. The service man said they'll have to open the area up, dry and reseal. What a complete hassle, basically down to very very poor manufacturing.
Reading some other posts, caravans are thrown together with no quality control. The caravan industry is absolutely dated and seems to lack a governing body to enforce such standards.
When I complained to Elddis on the poor quality, they said it had nothing to do with them and I should take it up with the dealer! RIDICULOUS! I have tried to contact a guy in Glossop Caravans a number of times called Ralf Thorman, and and I don't think he exists!
Does anyone know if there is a Caravan UK Governing Body of Standards ... or something like that! Or is it just trading standards?
