High level brake light

I have a Sterling Europa with a Hella high level brake light.

The brake light has a number of small push in bulbs and is a constant source of annoyance to me as there regularly seem to be bulbs out.

I have cleaned the contacts and often the bulbs just need a little wiggle to get them working.

My question is does anyone have any tips on making these bulbs less troublesome or better still is there an led upgrade available?
