Whatever happened to the smaller tow ball?

I recently changed my car after thirteen years & had a towbar fitted.  When I tried to hitch up my 1997 Elddis caravan the two just did not marry.  The reason?  My car has a 50mm tow ball but the caravan has a 47.5mm fitting.  The simpler solution seemed
to be to change the tow ball but I cannot get a 47.5mm tow ball anywhere.  Does anybody know where I can obtain a 47.5mm tow ball?
