Springsteen /River tour
My daughter son and wife have just booked tickets for me and my wife to go to the Coventry River tour on the 3 June as a gift for my 65th birthday.
Our first Springsteen concert was the river tour in 1980 it was the Boss’s first show in the UK at the Stafford county show ground. A rain storm in the afternoon flooded the hall and the car park so the show started late.
We where fans before seeing him live having bought the records and seeing TV footage but what a show it was even better than we expected still one of the best shows I have seen.
The 5 hour show finally finished at around one o’clock in the morning and all the cars had sunk in the mud on the field used as a temporary car park, we got home around 3am.
So here we go again 36 years later and off to see the river tour again, we saw the first now seeing one of the last, older but not much wiser but still fans on our journey in to retirement.
Hope it doesn’t rain

I had one very excited sister and brother in law around last night who managed to get tickets for the Manchester show....they have previously seen him and were beyond ecstatic getting them

I agonised about buying tickets for Manchester - but it's extremely likely we will be busy silaging etc then, so in the end my head ruled my heart and I resisted. I've been caught out several times with farm life spoiling my plans (four times last year - but that was a bad year), and the cost (and more important the disappointment after the anticipation) made me say , no - not this time.
No doubt I will regret it.

My other half was in Barcelona on 14/05 to see him. Said it was the best concert he had ever been to with Springsteen on stage for 4 hours!
Hes off to Manchester tonight to see him again. Somehow I don't think the weather will be any match for Barcelona!

What a fantastic night, in spite of the rain. I'm still recovering, retirement does have it's advantages, wouldn't fancy having to get up for work this morning. Just tried to post a photo, but failed miserably.
All of you who are going to his Coventry gig, enjoy.

Just back from Coventry after watching the best showman on earth.I don't know how that man keeps going he's like a fine wine gets better with age.I lost track of how many songs he sang as there didn't seem to be a encore they just went straight through till
the final song witch was an acoustic rendition of Thunder Road the best I've ever heard it on guitar and harmonica. The weather was fine for a change the down side was the jobsworth on the entry turnstile,I have never been frisked by a jobsworth before and
he made me throw the bag of sweets I had in my jeans pocket.I could understand if there was a shop selling sweets inside the arena but they only sell chocolate and food?.Still he will not spoil my memories.Steve
