Travelling to Spain

We are thinking of travelling to Spain with our caravan in Sept for about 5 weeks. Is it cheaper to go by ferry which is about £800 at that time of the year or is it cheaper by car when you consider tolls, ferry, petrol, overnight stops etc? Does anyone
know the rough cost to travel by car & caravan to northern Spain (including the return trip)? Thanks
