I don't know whether you want to be south of the mouth of the Gironde estuary or north.

On the south side there are many big holiday camp sites if you don't mind being on that wild remote forested coast. In fact many of the sites are on the lakes rather than on the seashore itself where the sea is fierce. There are few villages or resorts.

On the north side we keep going back to the La Palmyre area - a small rather select resort, with bars, restaurants, shops, and villas. We like Camping la Palombiere, Camping Atlantique Foret and Camping Beau Soleil - all three very different in style  from each other. It depends what sort of site you want- but none of those three are actually beachfront either.

    We've stayed at
    Panorama du Pyla
a number of times now (but only for 3 or 4 nights at a time) and this year it accepts ACSI until the 19th of June, I don't know exactly when in June you're looking at.  It is right at the side of the dune, which you can access from the
site direct.  Beware though, it is a long climb, but fantastic once you're at the top!  As for the beach, there are steps down to the beach - and back up again of course - so if that is a problem, then the site isn't for you.  It has a good pool though, and
it is quite a large site.  Have a look at the reviews.

I got the feeling the OP was looking for a holiday destination and having used Village Du Lac I would have thought it more suitable for a city visit or just a night halt.

I have stayed here last October to visit the city & it is not a place I would want to spend any length of time. It is no longer ACSI in any case. Regards Roy

We stayed at the Les Grands Pins in Sanguinet it's about 1/12 hours South from Bordeaux. A big site with pool etc the cycling from the site is great. Lots of cycle tracks around the lake, you can cycle to the Dunes too.  We liked the area, so are heading that way again get in September.  It's an ACSI site.

We have stayed for a few nights at Camping Fontaine Vieille in Andernos les Bains on the Bassin d'Arcachon - a (IMO) attractive although touristy village with restaurants etc. A pleasant site with pool which is a nice walk/cycle along a good path alongside the Bassin.  In high season boat trips round the Bassin and to the Dune leave from Andernos - can't say what they're like as we've only been on low season (not enough tide).  The sea on this Atlantic side is powerful and can be very dangerous but impressive to see.  We have also stayed at Parentis en Borne - a quiet small village on a lake (with restaurants of course!)
