Battery connect or not to connect

i like to use our van as much as possible but due to work we sometimes go 3 or 4 weeks between trips. We store our van in a compound so dont have hook up available. My question is should I disconnect the battery or not bother. I do use the large, non maintainance
type. At the moment I disconnect the terminals each time and then re-connect. The reason I ask is I have just had the van serviced and the fridge is playing up (the van is only 2 years old this month) and had an issue working on gas, they fixed that but now
has a problem working on mains. Would it have anything to do with the battery being connected and disconnected?
