Advice needed for first time trip to France

Hi Can anyone give me any good sound advice to do France for the first time ie: sites ferries anything that can help without spending an absolute fortune if poss...Would really like to try this but we are pulling our hair out trying to decide which part
of France and what Ferry crossing/operator to choose please help....This would also be our first time towing a caravan abroad we need this information to help us decide on France or Isle of Wight for next year Thank you
