Availability of French Gas Cylinders
I plan to buy a second gas cylinder (6kg) in France and use my Calor Gas Propane (6kg) as a backup.
I have bought several adaptors from Gaslow for use in France but cannot find any information on what cylinders are readily available in the supermarkets and what adaptors are required. I realise these are butane but my propane gas regulator from Gaslow will
take this although the low level indicator will read 'low'

Although adaptors are available the correct safe way is to fit a hose with the fitting for the bottle you intend using.

Thanks for your replies.
Yes I have stainless steel hose from Gaslow which is connected to a 6kg Calor Gas. And I have bought from them the clip on adaptors 20mm and 27mm size for France. However I cannot find any frenchown supermarket brands and none of the other sites give adaptor
sizes as far as I can see.0 -
I bought a 13 kg propane from Super U about 2yrs ago it was fairly cheap, the cylinder deposit was €5. The English butane connector hose fits if your regulator is fixed to your van, if not just buy a regulator from where you buy your cylinder and use a rubber
hose. The Super U branded cylinders at that time where cheaper than others I could find. I also have aTwinny butane cylinder, I bought the clip on regulator when I bougt the cylinder. I believe the English butane hose fits the French butane cylinder, but I'm
not certain. Most supermarkets seem to sell a selection of cylinders.0 -
Le Cube bottles, butane and propane, use a 27mm adaptor.
Yes, also fits Gas Light cylinders which are far better than Calori Lite. You can search for Le Cube stockists in France on the Internet.

,I changed my 'Autocruise' (when i had it) over to " Le Cube" at an 'Intermarche' station. The store also sold the hose and regulator Just double
clip with 'Jubilee's ,then test joints with strong diluted washing up liquid,or propriety liquid test .Or get a " gas safe" fitter to do it..No problem.Plenty of fuel stations sell them, cheaper too .(No responsibility accepted )
" For advice/info' tendered ."

Here's one source of an adaptor, rather than a clip-on regulator.
We're looking at getting a Flogas 'Gaslight' bottle to replace our 11kg Propane bottle: that way we'll be able to use the same clip-on regulators for both our cylinders. Stuck in UK for six months and our Cube for the bbq is running out!
