Transiting Switzerland with dogs

I am planning a trip to Italy this summer, with my family and 2 Springer spaniels. I would like to transit Switzerland,  but having driven to Italy for Five years as a heavy goods driver, I am aware of how difficult the Swiss can be. 

Has anyone transited Switzerland with their dogs, and could give me some pointers
