Dover to calais should we be worried?

Please excuse me if this has already been asked. We are heading to spain at the start of August and we are sailing with DFDS just wondering if we need to be changing routes? We have only been over the channel once before last summer so wanted to ask advice
of lovely caravan club people if they have experienced any problems with Calais. We have three children and don't want to be in a situation that scares them!! I'm concerend the press is actually blowng everything ut of proportion? Any advice would be gratefully
recieved. x
