59 Plate Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TDIe as a tow car?

I am probably asking this question a bit late but ive just bought a 59 Plate Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TDIe.  I am now getting worried as a fair few people have told me its not up to the job of towing.  I need to get a towbar fitted and Audi seem to charge a fortune.  Has anyone else towed with this vehicle?  And who did you get to fit the tow bar?

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
