Overnight stops in Central France

Has anyone any good recommendations for an overnight stop on the way from Calais to the South of France that we're embarking on this summer.  We're looking for a site in the Auxerre / Avallon area, around the Yonne district, by the A6 at the mid point of
our 600 miles journey this summer.......
